1st PETER - A LESSON IN LOVE!

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Brothers, we are to lay aside all things of this world. As newborn babes we both need, and should desire the sincere milk of the word of God. By hearing, reading, and walking in His word we will grow into a mature Christian.

God is love, and we must love our brothers in Christ Jesus as we walk in His holy word.

4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Jesus came unto this world as a living stone. But, men disallowed him as a building stone, and thus as a builder through aside Jesus, and did not accept him.

Jesus was chosen of God, and was precious in His eyes, and should be precious in our eyes as well.

God considers you and I lively stones, and we are to build up a spiritual house. We are a holy priest hood to offer up spiritual sacrifices, not as sheep in Jesus' day, but rather by turning away from the temptations of this day.

Brothers, we are tempted continuously in this life. To purchase things that our neighbors have. Things that we are envious of. Go back and reread the first five verses above.

6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

Jesus is that cornerstone for our salvation, we are to be the lively stones which are to build upon his words which in turn are building his temple in our own bodies.

Jesus and the Holy Spirit of God abides in each of us. We are the temple of God. Jesus is the corner stone of our lives.

7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Brothers, we are not of this world, and have not been of this world, since we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We now live in the kingdom of God. He lives in each of us, and we live in Him.

He expects us to put aside the temptations of this world, and walk Christ like through this present life.

Please go about doing his work by growing in His word. When the word of God is growing inside each of us we can be the living lively stone of love that Jesus intended for us to be.

God bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus.
