Jesus speaking:

And he said, A certain man had two sons:

12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

Brothers, please see here that the young man's son asked that he be given his inheritance, and his father obliged him, and his brothers.

The two older brothers stayed in their fathers house. But, the younger one went into a far country, and wasted the whole of his inheritance.

14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

The young man was to ashamed to return to his fathers house. So he found a citizen of this far country which allowed him to stay, and to feed his swine
(hogs). Jesus tells us here that no man did give unto him anything. This man even lived with the swine and did eat what they left behind.

Imagine if you will the condition of this man who at one time had all that anyone could hope for, but had wasted all that he had been given. He now lived and ate with the swine.

17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

Jesus tells us here that after a time the young man came to his since, and said to himself that his fathers servants had more bread than they could eat. He would go and ask that his father would make the son a servant that he might have food to eat.

Note here that he no longer considered himself worthy to be called a son.

Brothers do you see that there were probably times in your own life, before that you were saved, that you felt unworthy of God's forgiveness for all of the sinful things that you had done.

We are shown here that if only you will seek the truth, and go in faith before God that he will show you his great love and mercy.

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

God also is watching for your coming unto him. That he may with great joy receive you once again even when you have turned away from all of those blessings which he has given you and I.

Many of us even after we were saved have turned back unto the world, and the lusts there of. But, Jesus is showing us here that even now God is faithful to forgive us, and to welcome us with open arms back into his flock.

21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Brothers, not only will God welcome you back with open arms. But, the angels of heaven will shout with joy of your returning unto our heavenly fathers fold. We are so very blessed to have the promise of love and forgiveness from the Lord our God.

We also have an advocate in Jesus our Lord and Savior that he is faithful to make intercessions unto God our Father on our behalf.

Praise God for the promise of forgiveness of our sinful  ways. Jesus has paid the price for our sin brothers, and it is not necessary for him to return to this world to die all over once again for us. We can be forgiven for our sin both before, or after we are saved. All that we must do is to believe upon the saving name of Jesus, and to ask for forgiveness all the while knowing that God is faithful to forgive us of our sin.

So brothers when you fall short of your Christian walk in this life do not think that you can not return to the fold. For Jesus has made the way for not only our salvation, but also for our return to God's grace when we come short of his expectations of us.

God bless you my brothers. Walk in God's everlasting love.
