ABBUNDANCE OF FAITH
2Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of
Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through
the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you
through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
2Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given
unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge
of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great
and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine
nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Brothers, the apostle Peter tells us here what Jesus
has given us as children of God. He says in verse 1 & 2 that those who have
obtained faith through the righteousness of God and Jesus our Savior, that
grace and peace will be multiplied to us through the knowledge which He will
give us. Notice here that we have already obtained the faith to walk Christ
like in all of these things listed above and below. We don't have to hope for
these, we only have to walk in His knowledge by , knowing that these are ours
now, we only have to receive, and that they are a gift from God the Father and
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add
to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
2Peter 1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to
temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
2Peter 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to
brotherly kindness charity.
2Peter 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound,
they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Follow me now as I show you what has been given us.
THINGS THAT PERTAIN UNTO LIFE
AND PRECIOUS PROMISES
OF HIS DIVINE NATURE
ESCAPED CORRUPTION IN THIS WORLD THROUGH LUST
He tells us that all of these things are ours by
Brothers, we are to diligently add to our faith -
virtue, to our virtue - knowledge, to our knowledge - temperance, to our
temperance - patience, to our patience - godliness, to our godliness -
brotherly kindness, and to our brotherly kindness - charity which is love. He
tells us here that if these things abound in us we shall be fruitful in the
knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Peter 1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind,
and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old
2Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give
diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye
shall never fall:
2Peter 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered
unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Brothers, if we lack the above things we are then
blind, and cannot see what He would have us be. He says that if we lack these
gifts than we have forgotten that Jesus has purged us from our old sins. Do not
walk through this life allowing satin to convict you of what God has already
forgiven you, if you are a child of God. Rebuke satin when he would remind you
of past sins, and state boldly that you are both in cleansed and covered in
righteousness by the blood of Jesus Christ who saved you.
Please receive all of these free gifts by faith, and
go about doing God's work. He tells us here that we shall never fall if we take
and keep these free gifts. But, rather by doing these things we shall make our
calling and election sure. So an entrance into the kingdom of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ shall be abundantly ministered unto us. PRAISE GOD!
God Bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus,
