1Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
1Corinthians 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
1Corinthians 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
1Corinthians 3:4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
1Corinthians 3:5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
1Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
1Corinthians 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
1Corinthians 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
1Corinthians 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
Brothers, are those who walk as men in envy, strife, and division, are they not carnal? Are these still able only to receive milk as a babe in Christ, and not able to receive the meat of God's Word? Yes, they will not reach maturity in Gods Word until they put away worldly (carnal) thoughts and actions and cease from being divided from their brothers in Christ Jesus. Please love your brothers that you may grow into a mature child of God as Jesus has instructed us to do. Verses 1-5 above.
Jesus teaches us throughout the New Testament that we are to work together. Paul tells us here in verses 6-9 that one plants the seed, and the other waters the seed. He tells us in verse 9 that we labour together with God. You do your work, I do my work, and God's Holy Spirit will bring the increase. We labor for God the husbandman in His vineyard, but it is God who works through us. We can do nothing on our own. We are instructed here to work together. We must not be divided in our service to God the Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
1Corinthians 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
1Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1Corinthians 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1Corinthians 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
1Corinthians 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1Corinthians 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
1Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1Corinthians 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
1Corinthians 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
1Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1Corinthians 3:20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
1Corinthians 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;
1Corinthians 3:22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's;
1Corinthians 3:23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.
My brothers, Paul says in verse 10 that he lays the foundation and another builds upon it. But, let every man be careful how he builds upon that foundation. For it is Jesus Christ who is the chief corner stone of that foundation.
He asks us if we know that we are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwells in you. Those things that you build will be tried with fire, verse 13 tells us that every man's work shall be tried with fire, and that which is not built upon the foundation of Jesus Christ shall be consumed by the fire. It says that every man's work shall be tried by fire. It does not say that someone's work will be tried, no it says that everyman's work will be tried to see of what sort it is. Brothers, it had better be of God and not of some man religious doctrine which is designed to separate and not to unite.
Brothers, you are Christ's and Christ is God's. Verse 23. Walk in unity and let no man nor no word from man divide you from your brothers in Christ Jesus. God's word will never divide us his children, but man's word will. Try all things to see if it is from God. Never take it at face value again. God's Holy Spirit who dwells inside you will teach you all truth. God's Holy Word is true. Walk in God's Word my brothers. Amen.
God Bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus,
