Hebrews Chapter 4:1-16

Brothers those of us who know Jesus have entered into His rest. It is our faith in his word that we gain the peace of knowing that we rest in Him.
Follow with me now as we are shown that Jesus has delivered us from the pain and suffering that the lost is subjected to in this day.

1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
See in the above two verses that we have been given a promise from God that we are to enter into his rest. He tells us here that the gospel was preached unto us, and we accepted the truth of his holy word by faith.
He also says here that the word did not profit those who heard his holy word being preached because it was not mixed with their faith. They did not have faith therefore the word of God was not received.
Brothers, it was by our faith that we received the truth of the gospel. Salvation comes by faith in Christ Jesus. We then have access to the rest that we are promised here.

3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
We which believe do enter into rest, vs 3 above. We choose to enter into his rest by faith. Brothers we are not forced into his rest no more than the lost is forced to accept Jesus.
God is always about free will.
When we became a Christian we were not forced to walk a godly life. No. Our walk is a choice. We sometime step onto a worldly path by choice. But, when we do this, then we are to repent of this act, and turn back to the light which is Christ Jesus and God the Father.

7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
See here that entering into his rest is a daily choice. We may choose each day of our lives to enter into his rest.
Sometimes it is because the world has beaten us up. Or because of some infirmity that we are suffering from.
But, we always have a safe place to go where we know that we will find rest. His promise, his word is always true, and is always there to renew our spirit as we wait on the day of Jesus' soon appearing.
Rest in his promises!

10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
See here that when we enter into his rest. We have stopped seeking rest from our own failed efforts. We will only find rest in him. We are to rest from our works just as God did from his work of creating this world in six days.

11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
By doing God's work we enter into rest by our labor as we go about doing what God has told us to do. To labor in the fields which are white to harvest, there will we find rest. Those who continue to walk in unbelief will never no rest, and this includes those Christians who do not labor for Christ Jesus.
There has never been a time on this earth when our labor is so needed. We must now go about doing that work which He has assigned you, and thereby finding the rest that will come by serving God in this hour.

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Please see here that even the very word of God is a discerner of the thoughts and the intents of our heart.
God's holy word is capable of cutting us to the very bone and beyond. It is his word which will show us when we have gone astray, and when we are in need of entering into his rest. We rest in his word and in his service.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
No person stands where God can not see into his heart. All things are naked and opened unto his eyes. When we stand before Him one day we will be told of those things that we did not do for His sake. We will each answer for those things that we should have done.
Don't let this day pass without doing his work.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Jesus himself was tempted as we are. Yet he did not sin as we do. Jesus stood on the promises of God each and every day.
Brothers, we to can stand on His promises to us. We can choose to serve Him. We can choose to do the work that is needed in this day.
As I have told you before in other messages we have an assignment from God, but we must choose to both do and complete that assignment. No one else can do the task that God has given you to do. So go about doing that task.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Brothers, please come boldly unto the throne of His loving grace. There we will find mercy and the grace in our time of need.
His word is always true my friends. God can not lie!
So enter into his rest this day, and every day until His soon appearing.

God bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus;

John Hipp
