HYPOCRISY, Message #4
Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
At first reading you take verse 15 above as an observation of a lost man, but in verse 16 you are shown that this is a professed brother. These say that they know God, but you can not see godliness by their works. On the contrary, these deny God by evil works. Unto them that are defiled, and unbelieving nothing is pure. Even their mind and conscience is defiled.
They deny God by first not doing good works as we have been instructed to do. They also refuse to trust. and walk in his Holy Word which is truth. Rather by their exhibited unbelief in the Word of God, they trust in themselves and the world, having no affection for his truth. Yet all the while professing to believe in God. If your brother or neighbor walks in hypocrisy, then recognize this and confess your own sins before God, and pray for His guidance in helping to right this man from his unbelieving, and disobedient walk.
Titus 2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
Speak the sound doctrine of Jesus Christ and God the Father, not man doctrine.
Titus 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
Here God tells us who are under the spirit, not the law, that the aged man should be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, and in patience.
Sober * Temperate in the use of spiritous liquors; habitually temperate; as a sober man. Live a sober, righteous and godly life.
Grave * Righeous.
Temperate * Slow to speak and slow to anger.Sound in
Faith * Unmovable form God's word which lives in your heart.Charity * Love
Patience * Having waited on God as we walk through the valleys of our earthly lives we learn patience.
Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
The aged women are to do likewise as the men. By their behavior holiness is seen in them, and they are to be teachers of good things.
Brothers, both of these aged men and aged women do not have to be aged in years, but rather they are aged in God's Holy Word. Having been taught by His Holy Spirit, and walking in the righteousness that is ours by the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. It is through His righteousness that we walk righteously. Praise God!
1Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
1Peter 2:14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
1Peter 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
Brothers, we are to be servants as Christ was, to those who are over us, such as our employers. By doing a good job we make silent those evil doers who would accuse us of wrong doing. It is God's will that in this way we will silence the ignorance of foolish men.
The unsaved and lost of this world are both ignorant and fools. They know not the truth of God's Holy Word. Perhaps by our good work these men will receive the convection of the Holy Spirit and come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savour. It is God who works, through our good works, to His purpose.
We belong to God. We serve God, We walk with God, We love God. We endure for the glory of God. Our peace is from God. Our joy comes from God. Jesus Christ came, lived, died, and rose from the dead for us.
God Bless you my brothers,
