James Chapter 1
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Brothers, it is very hard to be joyful at being tempted, and not giving in to that temptation. Never the less this is exactly what we are to do. So when you are tempted it does not come from God but rather the devil. ********
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Brothers, we are to be patient, and to allow our patience to have her perfect work in us. Patience makes us perfect, and wanting for nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
If we lack wisdom about His word or anything else in our daily lives then we are to ask God for wisdom and he will give us that wisdom and shall not hold anything back. If after you receive you only have partial wisdom then go back and ask for his understanding, and it will be given you. After all He will hold nothing back. All of His wisdom is ours for the asking.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Brothers, see in verse 6 above that we are to ask God in faith. The very same measure of faith that you were saved by when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savour. We are not to waver. This means to have no doubt just as you have no doubt about your salvation.
Those who waver in their request for wisdom is lack a wave being tossed to and fro by the wind. Verse 7 says, let that man not think that he will receive anything of the lord.
Brothers, if you doubted that Jesus was the son of God and the only way to eternal life then you would not have been saved. It took your faith in Jesus and who he was, and why he came and died for you, and why he now sits at the Fathers right hand making intercessions for us.
Do not waver in your request nor in your receipt of God's wisdom.
9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted. 12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
After all my brothers God's wisdom, knowledge, and his understanding is what we have been promised. It is what we desire in our daily Christ like walk through this life. This does not come from us, but rather it comes from God.
God bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus;
