Matthew Chapter 8
23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
Brothers, please see here that Jesus asked his disciples why they were afraid. They were fearful of the storm which was upon them in their ship.
Jesus was asleep. They awoke him saying 'Lord save us: we perish. They were afraid of being killed by the storm. But, not only did Jesus know no fear, but rather he was sleeping through the storm which was on top of them all.
Brothers, the bible tells us that we are to walk Christ like through this life. Are we walking Christ like when we fear anything of this life?
No brothers we are not. The storms of this life do not have to be on top of you to bring fear into your life. No. The storm can be just out of sight or on the horizon. But, we are not to have fear of it.
Please see that it does not have to be a weather related storm as this one was. But, it can be anything which is coming into your life or all ready upon you.
It can even be an illness that is known to some time cause death. But, for those of us who know Jesus we should have no fear of this disease.
The bible tells us in more than one place that Jesus bore his stripes that we were healed. Brothers we are healed of everything right now. Were means past tense. It has already happened all that we have to do is believe.
Now allow me to continue.

27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
Brothers, see what Jesus' disciples said among themselves. 'What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!'
They still saw the Son of God as just a man. Why?
Let us continue.

28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
Brothers, please see here that two men were possessed with devils. Demons possessed these two men. Not just a demon, but many demons were in both men. We are told here that they were exceeding fierce to the point that they would allow no man to pass by. Men feared them greatly.

29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
WOW! Please see that even the demons knew who Jesus was without Him ever speaking a word to them. Jesus did not tell them that he was the Son of God. They knew him when they saw him.
The devils ask Jesus if he had come to torment them before it was time.
They knew that there was a time but that this was not the time for their torment.
See that Jesus' disciples called him a man. But, these demons knew that He was the Son of God.

30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.
31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.
The demons begged Jesus, 'If thou cast us out' of the two men which they had possessed, to 'allow them to go into a herd of swine'.
Notice brothers that they said to Jesus, 'If you cast us out'. These devils knew that he had done this before, that he could do this again, and that there was a pretty good chance that He was about to do this right now.
They had even determined that the heard of swine would be better that the 'Hell' which would come in due time as they had referred to earlier in verse 29.
They were now pleading with Jesus to allow them to possess the swine instead of the two men which they had possessed for a long enough time that everyone in the town feared them and would not pass by them.

32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.
Brothers Jesus only said one word to them, and that word was, GO. This one word was all that the devils needed to hear, and they immediately left the two men and went into the swine.
What are we to learn from this act?
Brothers, we are children of the living God. We are born again believers in Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior. God the Father in heaven has called us 'The sons of God'.
How much faith should the sons of God have. Should not our faith be His kind of faith because we are his sons.
Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. But, we have been grafted into the vine which is Jesus. Both God and Jesus expect for us to walk through this life knowing who we are. They both expect us to exercise our faith when we speak to the storms of this life.
Brothers we belong to Jesus. He died that we might have eternal life, and we have that promise that when this life is over we will forever be with the Lord and never die.
Our faith grows when we feed it. We feed our faith by reading, hearing and speaking his Holy Word. Not just one of these two, but rather by reading, hearing, and acting upon his word.
Do you see that we must act on our faith. Action is required of us. It is not enough for us just to read, or hear the word of God. We must do this, and then we must speak that truth and then believe that what we have spoken has come true. Not that it will come true. But, that it has already come true, and now we walk in that truth.
As I have told you before we may not see the storms in our life dissipate immediately, but that does not mean that they are not going to. These storms have not choice but to leave our life. Just as the devils here knew that they would have no choice but to leave these two men, not if Jesus spoke, but when he spoke.
Brothers, Jesus has spoken good things into your life. So walk is those good promises that God through His Son Jesus has said to you.
Read, hear, listen, and act on His Word by speaking that Word, and living by and in His promises.
Let us continue.

33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.
34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
Brothers, you would have thought that the people of the city would have been so very pleased that the devils had been removed from their presence that they would have wanted to show Jesus and his disciples a grand banquet.
But no. Instead the people asked Jesus to leave their town and even the coasts of their town.
Because they were lost, and did not know God. They were content to continue in the sinful life that they both knew and obviously enjoyed.
We know people like this in this day. Perhaps it is family, neighbors, or co-workers. But, they are also content to go through this life in ignorance of the truth of God's Word.
They need our prayers in this day that they to might know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Brothers, keep them in your prayers.
Walk in the truth of his word. Unlike the disciples of Jesus, do not see him as a man, but rather as the Son of God that he is in our life just as the disciples came to see him after his resurrection.
Go now in good health as you go about doing what God has told you to do. If you still do not know your assignment then go to him in prayer and ask that He show you. He will reveal that assignment to you. Praise God!

God bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus.
