Philipians 2:1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
Philipians 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Philipians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Philipians 2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Philipians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Brothers, Jesus walked this earth living as a man lives. He abounded in great love for man, having mercy on all of those that he ministered to. We are told here that we also are to walk as Jesus walked. In the comfort of love, in fellowship of the Spirit, and having mercy on both our brothers and our fellow man.
We are to be like minded, having the same love that Jesus had and did walk in. Being of one accord and of one mind with our brothers in Christ, letting nothing be done through strife (worry) or vainglory (taking pride in your vanity), but rather in lowliness of mind (not thinking highly of yourself), we are to esteem (hold up others) better than ourselves. Don't look on your own things (your possessions and your self), but look upon the things of every man and share what God has given you with them. This is the Great Love of Jesus.
Philipians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Philipians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Philipians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Even though Jesus was not in the form of God on this earth, vs 6, he considered himself equal with God because he did nothing nor said nothing that he did not here God say or see God do.
Brothers, we too are to walk like Jesus walked, never doing what our flesh wants to do or saying what our flesh wants to say, but rather listening to God's Holy Spirit who dwells inside each of us, my brothers.
Just as Jesus humbled himself in the form of a servant to God so to are we to do this. He made no reputation for himself and neither are we to do, for this is vanity and pride in it's highest form. Walk in humbleness my dear brothers. Jesus was obedient unto death even the death of the cross, vs 8.
Philipians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Philipians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Philipians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
God has exalted the name of Jesus above every name that at His name every knee shall bow, those in heaven, those on earth, and yes those under the earth.
Brothers, do you see the victory that Jesus has given us. That we also have victory over the things of this earth, and also the devil and his demons. We are made victorious over all things by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savour.
Philipians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Philipians 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
Brothers, God is to work in us both his will and his good pleasure, vs 13. Please do all things that He directs you to do without complaining.
If you do what you have been instructed to do, then you will be held blameless and harmless the sons of God, without rebuke (chastening) in the middle of a crooked (evil) and perverse (wicked) world verse 15 below.
Philipians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Philipians 2:16 Holding forth the word of life;
Brothers, please be of one mind, kind to each other and lifting your brother and others up equal to yourself and not beneath. Be a servant of God doing his will and not your own will.
God Bless you my brothers,
