OUR GIFTS LESSON #3

1st Corinthians 12:28-31

28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
Brothers, please see that there are those in the church with one are more of the above gifts. But, verse 29-30 explains that not everyone has all of these gifts.
However we are told in verse 31 that we are to earnestly desire the best of these gifts.

You will be shown in the following verses what is required of us in order to use any gift that we have been given.

Please see that whenever the bible uses the word CHARITY this is LOVE.

1st Corinthians 13:1-13

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
If we do not have LOVE then it does not matter if we speak with the tongues of angels and men. Love must live inside us in order to use God's gifts to us.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
Brothers, we are nothing and anything that we can do will amount to nothing with our LOVE.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
We can give everything that we own to the poor, and even sacrifice our body. But if we do not have LOVE, we will profit nothing.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Brothers, please see that LOVE is kind, it does not envy, it does not put itself above anyone or anything, and is not filled with ego (puffed up). LOVE must live in us throughout our lives, even during those times that we suffer in this world.

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
LOVE does not think evil, and is not provoked to sin by outside sources. LOVE does not behave in an unrighteous way, and does not seek self satisfaction or gratification.

6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
LOVE does not take pleasure in sin and lies, but rather LOVE rejoices in the truth.

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
LOVE will bear all things, Love will believe all things of God, LOVE will hope for all things, LOVE will endure all things that we face in our lives.

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
LOVE will never fail you. Other gifts may fail, but LOVE  will never fail you.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Brothers, faith, hope, and charity are to live inside every Christian. But, the greatest of these three is LOVE which is charity.

Walk through this life with LOVE living inside you, and you will never be without joy, and fellowship with God.

God bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus;
