Lesson #2

1st Corinthians 12:12-27

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Brothers we are all one body and Christ is the head. Just as every body is made up of many members of that body. Such as the hand, eyes, feet, legs, arms, etc. So to is the body of Christ.

We individually are only one member, and God decides what member we are. After all it is his body that we as born again believers in Christ Jesus have been baptized into.

The Holy Spirit of God has baptized us into the body of Jesus our Lord and Savior. Praise God!!

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

As it has pleased him!Do you see that it is God who has chosen the gift that is yours. Not only chosen your gift, but it is God who has ordained you to use that gift for His glory.

The Bible tells us that God knew you before the foundation of the world. He knew you thousands of years before that you were even born.

When you were yet living in your sin, before that you accepted Jesus, that gift was waiting for you. Then when you were saved from your sins you became his child.

Now your gift is manifested to you by God's very own Holy Spirit who has come to reside inside you along with our Lord Jesus.

They both are Spiritually inside each of us.

You see brothers it is your responsibility to ask of the Father what your gift is. Then it is your responsibility to use that gift in His service. Only you can serve Him with the gift that He gave to you.

If you do not use your gift than the plan that God had just for you can not be realized.

It will be an awful feeling when we stand before God, and have not accepted and used His gift. It is your gift from God. Use it!

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:

23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:

25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

Brothers, we as members of Jesus' body must work together. If one of us refuses to work with the other body parts then all will suffer loss. They can not accomplish all of the things that God has ordained them to do if we do not do our part.

Verse 25 above says that God has tempered the body together.

He says that there should be no lack of function by each part, (schism). Then he says that all members of the body of Christ should care for one another.

Are you caring for your brothers, and sisters?

Are you realizing your God given gift and using it in service to the Lord our God? By doing this then you are helping and ensuring that they can perform their assignment here on earth as God intended for us to do.

Together is the only way for each of us individually to achieve our work that is ours to perform.

God bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus. Please go about knowing what your gift is, and using it to God's glory before Jesus appears for us.
