THE BRIDGE OVER OUR TRIALS

Have you ever gone on a hike and came across one of those old swinging bridges? Imagine going if we were all kids and coming up to this same bridge. We would probably not think twice about walking or even running across that bridge. But, as adults we tend to be more cautious and worried about what could happen, what if something went wrong. This is where three things come in for all of us to think about. Believe, Know, and Trust.

The child would run across the bridge because they would jump straight to the Trust part instead of the other two parts of Believe and Know, which I believe God wants us as Christians to learn about Faith.

Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Most of us can say that we Believe in God. We believe that He is there for us. When we come up to that bridge or a problem in our life we believe that the bridge will hold us, but we are still unsure that it will actually do what we have been told that it will. Most of our fear is that the bridge will fall or that God does not hear our prayer for the help that we need, or that He will not answer us in time.

The second part is Know. Well this is pretty easy because we just finished walking across the bridge and we are now safe on the other side. That God helped us through our problem answered our prayers, and now we are walking on the safe path once again.

The third part is Trust. Well this is the part of the three that we all have the most problem with. It would be great if we could be like little children and just go running across the bridge without a worry in the world without a thought that it might fail them. On the other hand when most adults start over the bridge and get about Ten feet out past the bank their knuckles are white from gripping the rope railing so tightly, that they appear paralyzed. The bridge is swaying with the movement of your own steps or those behind or in front of you. Everyone is saying come on, what are you waiting for.

Matthew 18:2-3 - Jesus called a little child to Him, He set the child in the midst of them, and said Assuredly, I say to you unless you are converted and become as a little child, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

You see the child's heart is pure and without fear. A child's heart is humble. A child will Trust just because he is told what something will do, he Believes with his whole heart. Without fear and without any doubt. So if that child sees others going across that bridge then he will have no problem running straight across to the other side. You can tell a child to climb out on  tree branch and they will do it because you told them that it will hold them up.

So let's go back to the top again. We believe that the bridge will hold us so we start across the bridge ever so slowly. Then we have the Knowing. We Know now that the bridge will hold us because we have made it to the other side safely. Then there is Trust. When we return to the same bridge again why do we slow down and start worrying about if the bridge will hold us or not?

So why do we lack the faith and still trouble so much when we come the that same bridge in our lives over and over. Why do we not believe that God will take us over the bridge just like he has done in the past? Do we not know that He is with us and never will forsake us even until the end of this age. It is said, in the last verse in the book of Matthew.

Where trust comes in is that when we come back to the same problem, we walk back up to that same bridge, and we allow fear to once again grip us, or we stand strong in our faith and trust that God has already delivered us through this once and He will see us through it once again.

So when you come to that same bridge again in your life, that same trail that the devil is telling you will kill you this time, remember with your whole heart as a child , that God has already brought you through is once and He will do it again. Do not fear, do not be afraid that the bridge will fall. For this bridge has stood the test of time and His Holy Word tells us that He will never leave nor forsake us and that His eyes will always be upon us.

Proverbs 3:56 - Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Praise God!

God Bless you my brothers,
