THE CHURCH AT LAODICEA
Revelation 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
Revelation 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Brothers, so many Christians of this day believe that they have no need of nothing. Because they possess so many things, houses, automobiles, boats, fine clothes and jewelry, money, IRA's, saving accounts, and credit cards, etc.
God tells them here that they do not know that they are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked. He says that they can not see the condition of their soles because their heart is filled with the desire of earthly things. But, God sees their hearts and knows that they are all of the things listed in verse 17, and so much more.
Revelation 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
God councils those by saying that they must turn away from their lust for the things of this world and submit themselves to Him. His Holy Word tells us that we will be tried with fire and all that is not pure of heart shall be burned away and swept out, as chaff of wheat on the storehouse floor. He goes on to tell us here that if they will only seek his gold that is tried in the fire, then they will be clothed in white raiment (made pure of heart and righteous), and that their eyes will He anoint with eyesalve, that they may have their sight restored that they may see.
Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Brothers we must turn away from the things of this world and repent. He says that he rebukes and chastens those that he loves.
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Brothers, we must overcome the things of this world that we may receive the things of Heaven, of our Lord Jesus, and of God the Father.
Revelation 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Brothers, know that he is speaking to us, we are the church. He is not speaking to some brick and mortar building somewhere. He is speaking to you and I and all of our brothers who yet walk in the ways of this world. Repent and turn away.
God Bless you my brothers,
