First John Ch. 3

Brothers come with me now as God teaches us who we are in Jesus. We are to remember always who God has told us we are.
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Brothers, you and I who know Jesus are called the sons of God by God himself.
He calls us his sons. Yes indeed what manner of love has God shown unto you and I. He sees us as His children.
Verse 1 above tells us plainly why the world does not know us Christians. The world can not know us because the world did not know God and still does not know God. Remember what God's holy word says about the world. It says that they are blind and can not see, and are deft and can not hear.
Brothers you and I can talk until we are exhausted to this lost world, but they can not hear us until they receive conviction for their sins by God's very own Holy Spirit. Just as you and I did when we ourselves surrendered to that convection and accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
2Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Brothers we are now the sons of God. As Christians we are now the sons of God. But, we don't yet know what we shall be. For when Jesus appears we are told here that we will then be like him. You and I will receive our glorified bodies that we will live forever in.
We are to keep this hope of his appearing for our hope, of his soon appearing, purifies each of us. Do you see that our very hope of his appearing purifies each of us. We are then pure even as he is pure.
Keep this hope always for the day of Jesus' appearing is so very close brothers. Stand fast in your hope and faith. Let no man take this from you.
4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Do not allow this lost world to pull you back into your old self when we were living in sin as now the lost continues to do so.
Brothers we have been forgiven of our past sins and when we sin, and we will because we are not yet perfect as Christ Jesus was and is. We are then to accept that what we did or said was sin and then confess that sin and God's holy word tells us that he is faithful to forgive us each and every time.
God's word tells us that we are no longer of this world, as the lost souls of this day are, but rather we are merely in this world as Jesus was in this world.
9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
12Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
13Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
You and I, as the sons of God, are told not to marvel because the world hates us. They will hate us because they first hated Jesus and God incarnate.
14We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not hisbrother abideth in death.
15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down ourlives for the brethren.
17But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
19And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
20For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
22And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
My brothers in Christ Jesus we are forgiven and we will be forgiven if only we confess that sin to God when we know that we have sinned. We are commanded to love our fellow brothers in Christ not matter the denomination that they have aligned themselves with.
Jesus calls us all the sons of God and He did not bring a certain denomination to the church. No! We are all brothers if we know and profess Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We are commanded here in this 3rd chapter of John to love our brothers even to the point of dying for him if need be just as Jesus died for you and I.
Keep walking in love for your brothers, and praying for the Holy Spirit to convict the lost while there is still time.
Know who you are and accept that truth. You are the sons of God brothers. Stand on that truth, walk in that truth, and love your brothers in Christ Jesus.
Watch and pray for his soon appearing.
