JAMES Chapter 3 vs 7-10
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Brothers, we are told plainly here that our tongue can not be tamed by men. It is an unruly evil, and is full of deadly poison. Our efforts can not contain our own tongues. But, the Holy Spirit can, and will help you in these efforts, and yes by asking for his help you can learn to contain your evil speaking.

9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
These things don't have to be. God's very own Holy Spirit will help you to control your tongue.
You can gain victory over evil speaking, but only by your asking for, and accepting the help of the Holy Spirit.
We are told here that man alone can not accomplish this task. But, God will help us to do so through his very own Holy Spirit.

JAMES Chapter 4 vs 1-17
1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
We are told here that it is mans nature to desire earthly things. Man received this evil desire when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden of Eden.
We have not because we ask not, we receive not because we ask amiss. Do you see here that we try to obtain things by our own efforts.
We desire to have these things to consume it upon, and because of our lusts.
If we will only ask God for our hearts desire, and not to fulfill our lusts, but rather that we may serve him, then will he answer your prayers. Not to consume your own lusts, but to be of service to him.

4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
Brothers, the world is not your friend. The world, and the things of this world are the enemy of God.
This is a powerful statement, and one which we must hold closely to our heart least we forget. We are told once again here that our spirit envy's after our lusts for the things of this evil world.
The world is not your friend! Verse 4 above.
Do not believe the lies that you are told by the world's spokes persons. They lie to you without ceasing.
Brothers the friends of this world is the enemy of God, and thus is your enemy as well.

6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Wow! Do you see how that we gain victory over the evil of this world. God gives grace to the humble. We are to therefore humble ourselves before the Lord, and His grace is sufficient to overcome this worlds evils.
But, if you are proud God will resist you. Verse 6.
If we will submit ourselves to God, and draw close to Him, and resist the devil then will the devil flee from you.
Brothers this is very powerful. We have authority over satin when we resist him and draw close to God. Amen!
We are told in verse 8 that we are to submit ourselves to God, and draw close to Him. We are to cleanse our hands, and purify our hearts. He tells us that those who try to both love the world and love God are double minded.
He says for us to humble ourselves before the Lord, and that His grace, which He will give unto us, is sufficient to overcome all of the evils of this world. Praise God!!! He will lift us up over the cares of this world.

11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
Brothers, we as children of God are not to speak evil of fellow believers. We are not to set in judgement of them. God will judge them just as he will you. Do not sit in judgement of your brothers in Christ Jesus. Do not speak evil of your brothers.

13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
There are those who say today or tomorrow we will go here or there and buy and sell to make money. Brothers, we are told here that we have no promise of today or tomorrow. Our life is indeed like a vapor in that it appears only for a little while, and then we vanish. We are taken away at God's chosen time, and not at our time frame.
We are to always say if the Lord will, we shall live, and do this or that or go here or there. He decides, not us. Humble yourself before the Lord, and submit yourself to his will.

16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Brothers, you know to do good, and if you don't do good, and instead do evil then this is sin. When we boast about this or that then this boasting is evil. We as Children of God are not to be proud or puffed up over anything.
Brothers, we are to humble ourselves before God in everything that we do. We are to pray for the Holy Spirit of God to help us to bridle our evil and wicked tongue. It is not possible for us to bridle it without His help.
This world is evil, and is the enemy of God. Do not bind yourself to this world by going about trying to fulfil your own evil lusts. But, rather we are to draw close to God, and walk in His will not our own will.

God Bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus our Lord.
