Traditions Of Men
Galatians 1:1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
Brothers, as I have taught throughout this ministry and I say here, as my brother Paul said, both you and I are ministers not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Jesus from the dead.
Galatians 1:2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:
Galatians 1:3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
Galatians 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
We are delivered from this present evil world, according to the will of God our Father. We as his children may remain in this present evil world until we pass away or are caught up to meet Jesus in the air. But, we are not of this evil world, we simply live in this world to do what God has called each of us to do, and that is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ both unto the lost and unto our brothers who are in need of the truth in this late hour. Praise God!
Galatians 1:5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Galatians 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Brothers, in verse 6 Paul says that he marvels that you so soon would be removed from unto another gospel, thereby perverting the gospel of Christ Jesus that God gave to you. He says in verse 7 that this gospel that some of you have been perverted into is not another gospel but is a perverted gospel that Jesus Christ gave to you. These are accursed by God who do pervert the gospel of Christ.
Galatians 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
We should not be the servant of Christ Jesus if we seek to please men rather than God. For it is God whom we as his children are to seek to please, NOT MEN.
Galatians 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
Galatians 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
As Paul certified in verses 11 & 12, that the gospel that you and I teach is not of men, but is by the revelation of Jesus Christ, (taught by the Holy Spirit of God who is to be our teacher).
Galatians 1:13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
Galatians 1:14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
Paul says, here in verses 13 & 14, that in times past when he was in the Jews religion under the law, that no one could measure how Paul had persecuted the church of God and brought it to waste, time after time, again and again. Paul said here that he did this with exceeding zealousness, meaning enthusiastic. He says that he was exceedingly carrying out these acts against God's gospel by following after the traditions of his fathers.
We as Christians are in grave danger this day in following after the traditions of our fathers. Way to often we as Christians follow man made traditions rather than the gospel of Jesus Christ who teaches love of your brothers who are born again believers of Jesus. If those who we worship with on our Sabath day teach division from your brothers, then they are not teaching what Jesus taught, nor what he prayed to God the Father shortly before he was taken into custody to stand before Pilot. Jesus prayed that we would be as one even as He and the Father are one, that by us being one the world might believe.
Brothers, by us being one in the unity of Jesus Christ and having no man made traditions from our fathers. Then the lost of this world might believe upon the name of Jesus and be saved. We do the lost a great injustice by being divided from our brothers in Christ. The lost then judge us as hippocrites because we say we love the Lord our God while we act not in love to fellow believers. The bible tells us that Jesus, who is our judge, will judge us for our non believe in the gospel. St. John 5:22 KJV. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgement unto the Son. (Jesus spoke this unto the Jews.
He will withhold rewards from you in our eternal life and will withhold blessings from you in this life. Please believe the whole word of God. Do not pick and choose what you believe based on the man made religious doctrines of our fathers. We are held accountable for following after versions of the gospel that are not in keeping with the whole of God's Holy Word, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Galatians 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
Galatians 1:16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
Galatians 1:17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
Galatians 1:18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.
Brothers, Paul tells us here in verses 15-18 that he did not seek after mans teaching, but rather he went off by himself for 3 years and Jesus and God the Father taught him through the Holy Spirit of God who is also to be our teacher. God revealed his Son Jesus to Paul in verse 15, that he would preach Jesus Christ unto the heathen (Lost), Paul did not confer with flesh and blood but with the Holy Spirit of God. St. John 14:26 KJV But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things
We are not to be slothful (lazy), in our study of God's word. You will never know the truth of God's word if you rely on some man to teach you a couple of hours each week. You must sat aside an hour or more each day to spend in God's word allowing the Holy Spirit to teach you what God and Jesus would have you know.
God has promised you that he would show you all things if only you would ask of him. Never begin your study time without asking the Holy Spirit of God to teach you. God says, James 1:5 KJV, if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,' and it shall be given him. Vs. 6 Let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.
God can not lie! He said that he would do it and he will. Also, always ask the Holy Spirit to teach you the truth of everything that you hear from preachers and teachers of the gospel. He will show you every time, when they stray off into religious tradition from their earthly fathers and away from the truth of God's Holy Word.
Galatians 1:19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.
Galatians 1:20 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.
Paul says here that other than Peter, who he spent 15 days with, and seeing James, Jesus's earthly brother he conferred with no man concerning the gospel of Christ Jesus.
     Galatians 1:21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
Galatians 1:22 And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:
Galatians 1:23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
Galatians 1:24 And they glorified God in me.
God was glorified in Paul because he depended not on man nor men, but rather he depended solely on Jesus Christ, God the Father and the Holy Spirit of God for all of the teaching of the gospel. Praise God!
God Bless you my brothers,
John Hipp
