Brothers, as you read the following verses of scripture here in the 2nd chapter of Thessalonians please see yourself as the church, the body of Christ Jesus. For that is who Jesus told us we were. We are the body and He is the head. Make a mental note of this as Paul refers to us below in verse 7.
2Thessalonians 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2Thessalonians 2:2 That ye be not shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
Brothers do not be shaken in your mind or troubled by the things that you see around you in this hour for we are told that these things must come to pass before the antichrist is revealed. Don't allow your spirit to be troubled by men.
2Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2Thessalonians 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
The antichrist will claim to be God. He will set in the temple in Jerusalem showing himself as God.
2Thessalonians 2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
2Thessalonians 2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
2Thessalonians 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
Brothers in Christ Jesus, we the church are the withholder. It is we whom God hath made to do His work upon this earth. God will one day catch us up, taking us out of the way, that the antichrist may be revealed and claim from Jerusalem that he is God. Then will the seven years of great tribulation begin here on earth. We the church will be in Heaven with Jesus and God the Father.
2Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
The Lord Jesus shall consume him and his armies at the battle of Armagadon at the end of the seven years of tribulation.
2Thessalonians 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Thessalonians 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Thessalonians 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Brothers, the lost of this world will believe the lies of the antichrist. But the Word of God tells us that many will be saved during this time. That there will be more than can be numbered who come to believe upon Jesus and will be saved during the tribulation period.
Revelation 7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
Revelation 7:5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
Revelation 7:6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
Revelation 7:7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
Revelation 7:8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Revelation 7:10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
Revelation 7:11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
Revelation 7:12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
Revelation 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Some have taught and still teach that the Holy Spirit of God is the withholder of the antichrist. Please follow alone as I show you that it is the Church, and not the Holy Spirit who withholds the antichrist from appearing even in this day.
1. The Holy Word of God teaches us that no man can come under conviction of his sins unless the Holy Spirit of God, who is omnipresent, (meaning everywhere all of the time), bring conviction of sin upon the lost of this world.
2. If the Holy Spirit were the withholder he would have to be removed from this world so that the antichrist could be revealed.
3. It is the Church who withholds the antichrist, and it is the Church who shall be removed from this earth so that the antichrist may be revealed and come to power.
4. If the Holy Spirit were removed there could be no one saved during the tribulation period, not even the 144,000 young virgin Jewish men who will bring countless numbers to Christ during this time. The Holy Spirit will be here convicting the lost just as he has been from the time that Jesus and God the Father sent Him to this earth to convict.
2Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
2Thessalonians 2:14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Thessalonians 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
2Thessalonians 2:16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and hope through grace,
2Thessalonians 2:17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every word and work.
God Bless you my brothers
