TO THE CHURCH AT PHILADELPHIA
7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
Brothers, Jesus says here once again that he knows their works. Just as he has told the five previous churches that he has known their works as well. Please see in his teaching here that he knows our work in this day. He knows your works, and my works. When we stand before him in judgement our lack of works will not be hidden from him. He will see all that we ever did for him, and all that we could have done, and should have done, but did not do. His Holy Word tells us that some will bear many stripes.
Jesus says here that no man can shut that door that he has opened for you to walk through. He has come to abide in each of us along with God's very own Holy Spirit. No one can shut that door that he has opened to us when we accepted Jesus as our very own Lord and savior. We are to go about doing his work now in this hour. Don't wait for tomorrow for tomorrow you and I may be standing before Him, and being judged.
9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
Brothers, Jesus tells us here that there are those in this day that say they are Christians, and are not. He says some do lie. As you walk with your brothers in this day be aware of the Holy Spirit who Jesus sent to teach us. He will point out those who claim to be a brother in Christ and are not. Pray for those people my friends. Don't look down upon them, but rather lift them up in prayer. For their souls are in great danger in this day.
10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. 11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
Brothers, Jesus says that those of us who keep his word will be kept from the great tribulation period. He says that this period of time, (seven years) will come upon all of the world. Jesus goes on to say here in verse eleven that He will come quickly, and that we should hold tightly to what Jesus has given us. We are not to let the lost and dying world take away our crown. The crown of life which Jesus died for us to have and hold. Please hold on to your crown tightly in this hour for Jesus is coming very soon.
12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. 13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
We are overcomers my friends. If you know Jesus as your lord and savior then you have been given the ability to overcome the evil traps of this present life. Jesus that he will make us to be a pillar in the temple of God. Brothers a pillar is strong enough to hold up a very great and heavy ceiling. He is telling us here that if we overcome this world that we will be as a great pillar in the city of New Jerusalem. WOW! Can you imagine that glorious day when we dwell with Jesus, and God the Father.
God bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus.
