TO THE CHURCH AT SMYRNA
Revelation Chapter Two
8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
Brothers, God knows our works, He knows our tribulation, and He knows our poverty. But, Jesus tells us that we are rich. Not with gold that some men count riches, but rather with the truth of the gospel, with God's Holy Word. If we continue his work, and if we endure the tribulation of this life, and the poverty then does Jesus count us rich.
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Jesus tells us not to fear those things which we shall suffer. He tells us here that the devil will cast some of us into prison that our faith may be tried. Jesus says that we are to be faithful even unto death, and He will give us the crown of life. Life eternal is our goal.
11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Brothers, we are to overcome all of the trials of this life, and by overcoming we will have eternal life with the Father and the Son.
God Bless you my brothers,
