UNITY - Lesson #2


Brothers my hope is that you will see the truth of how important UNITY of His church is to both the Father and the Lord Jesus. The Holy Spirit has shown me the many verses in God's Holy Word which teach us on this subject. I pray that as you read aloud and meditate on these scriptures, that you would receive the truth of what we are to be as we walk Christ like on this earth. Loving one another is not an option for Christians it is a command from God for us His church.

Romans 12:16  Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.  

Jesus has taught us not to think ourselves wise, but rather know and profess that we are nothing and know nothing of God's Word, that He has not revealed to us His children.

Ephesians 4:13  Until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 

We will never be a mature Christian until we walk in unity of faith in Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2:3  Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 

Be humble as you count others more important than yourselves.

1 Corinthians 12:12  For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 

We Christians are many, but we are one body, and even though we have different assignments we must agree as one in order to function as the body of Christ. He is the head and we are His body.

Romans 15:5-7  May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. 

God expects us to live in harmony with one another just as Christ Jesus did on this earth. Together we will be one voice glorifying God the Father of us all and our Lord Jesus Christ who came and died for our sins. Welcome one another just as Jesus welcomed you into His fold for the glory of God the Father.
  
John 17:11-23  And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. 

Jesus prayed to the Father here that we would be one, united in oneness that the world might believe that God had sent Jesus to die for our sins. Brothers, go back and read all of chapter 17 of the book of John. It will show you in His prayer to the Father how very important it is for His church to be ONE.
  
Amos 3:3  “Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet? 

We must agree to walk together in truth.
  
Acts 2:1-47  When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. 

Together in one place is where we must be my brothers.
  
Colossians 3:15-17  And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Ephesians 1:10  As a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. 

Unite all things on earth and in heaven, and everyone in Him.
  
Galatians 3:28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 

One in Christ Jesus
  
Matthew 18:15  “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 

Walk in brotherly love for one another.
  
Romans 8:1-39  There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

Brothers our flesh is dead in Christ, and we are now spirit and are to walk according to the Holy Spirit whom Jesus sent to abide in us and to teach us all things including UNITY. 
  
Acts 20:28  Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. 

Jesus has made us responsible for all of the flock, His church. Jesus ordained this with His own blood.
  
Philippians 2:1-8  So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,

Be as one, humble, peaceful, not conceited, not selfish, walk in love, in the Spirit in one mind as Christ Jesus has ordained us to do.
