Mark 4:14-41

14 The sower soweth the word.
15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

Brothers, our Christian walk must be rooted in good ground in order to accomplish what God has ordained you and I to do in service to him.

We first are a seed when we are saved. We then must resist the devil when he tries to take our faith from us. If we resist then will our faith take root and grow into the full gospel of God, and all that He would have us be as we serve Him on this earth. Remember that nothing that we do for God shall be hidden.
But, rather He will reveal all that we do for his namesake.

Brothers, we are to sow his word as we walk through this live. Good ground is how we grow in our service to him.

21 And he said unto them,Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?
22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
24 And he said unto them,Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

Brothers, here Jesus is speaking to us about our Spiritual hearing that God gave us when we were saved. All we had to do was accept our God given hearing. Jesus says that those of us who accept, and use our Spiritual hearing, shall more be given. More hearing will be given us. To him that hath shall more be given.

But, those who have not received their Spiritual hearing, and practice using that hearing every day, shall loose even the hearing that they have.

Do you see that this hearing is the candle parable that Jesus spoke of in the above sentences. He tells us that just as we are not to put a lighted candle under a bushel basket or a bed. Neither should we hide our Spiritual hearing.

But, just as we should put this burning candle on a candle stand so that it would light the entire room, so to are we to let our Spiritual hearing  to teach us all things of God, and to share what we hear with both our brothers in Christ Jesus, and the lost world.

26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them,Let us pass over unto the other side.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

Do you see that his apostles were fearful of dying in the great storm. Even to the point of waking Jesus, and asking him, "Do you not care that we die?"

As a young Christian I questioned how that they could have so little faith when they were present during so many miracles being performed by Jesus each day.

But, then God should me through my own Spiritual hearing that Jesus had not yet died for their sins. They were yet unsaved. Yes they thought Him to be perhaps the greatest prophet who had ever lived. But, they did not know yet that Jesus would be their way to eternal life. That Jesus was God incarnate.

Too many of us are yet fearful as the apostles were in Jesus' day. We have so much more knowledge than the apostles did before Jesus was crucified, died, buried, and rose again on the third day. After witnessing this, and then seeing Jesus return to the upper room and sup with Him.

They then spent forty days with Him before being told by Jesus that He must go to set at the right hand of God in Heaven. They were told to go into Jerusalem, and wait there for the Holy Spirit to come unto each of them.

It was only after they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit that they understood all that Jesus said and did while he was here on earth with them.

39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them,Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Please see here that even seeing this miracle of calming the sea and wind they were even more afraid. Please see here that it is the devil who brought fear into even the apostles who walked in fear. Some of you are still fearful of receiving all that God has for you.

Brothers, God did not give you the spirit of fear, but rather he gave to you the Spirit of love, of power, and a strong mind. This is how that we are to walk through this life here on earth.

Please receive your spiritual ears, and eyes, and plant your self on good ground as you grow into a mature Christian walking and living in the light of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It is then that you can truly be in service to the Lord our God.

I love you my brothers in Christ Jesus.
