WE ARE FELLOW CITIZENS WITH THE SAINTS
AND WITH THE HOUSEHOLD OF GOD
EPHESIANS CHAPTER 2
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Brothers, you and I have been quickened from death unto eternal life. You were brought out from your trespasses and sins, and the death that we walked in.
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
Brothers, we were lost just as many in this hour remain lost, and walking in the lusts of this world. We must minister to these lost souls in this hour. We are told plainly here that we once walked according to the course of this world, and according to the prince of the power of the air which is satin himself. Even then, God loved us so much that he gave His only begotten Son Jesus Christ for our salvation. Could you give your only child to save the evil, and wretched souls who denied your very existence. We denied God when we were lost just as the evil people of this day deny Him.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
It is by God's grace that we are saved. That we have the promise of eternal life with Him. Brothers, we who are in Christ Jesus will never know death. Our bodies will indeed pass away, but we will never die. We will forever be with the Lord. Praise God!
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Brothers we now sit together with Jesus in heavenly places.
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
How are we to show the exceeding riches of God's grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. We do this by trying every day to walk Christ like in this life. We will all fail each day, but when we do we repent of that failure, and continue to walk as an example of Christ so that the lost world might see Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior in each of us. Go to John Chapter 17 and see the prayer that Jesus prayed for each of us.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Brothers we are saved by God's grace through our faith in Jesus Christ. We did nothing to earn this salvation. God himself gave us the faith to believe upon the name of Jesus when the Holy Spirit convicted us of our need for a savior.
Do you see that even our faith was a gift from God. It was His grace that delivered that faith to us. We who are saved are to walk by faith not by sight. It is not our faith, but God's faith that he has given to each of us who know Jesus as Lord and Savior. Please stop walking by sight, and walk by the faith that God has given to each of us His children.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We are to walk in good works in Christ Jesus. By us walking Christ like as we go about doing good toward our fellowman, it is Christ who will be seen in us, and the lost of this world may believe upon his holy name as Jesus himself prayed to God the Father shortly before Jesus was taken into custody to be crucified for each of us.
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Brothers, we were indeed without any hope before we came to know Jesus.
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Jesus Christ tore down the wall which separated us from God. That wall no longer exists. We now have an advocate to God the Father through our Lord and Savior. Jesus makes intercessions to God on our behalf each and every day, and indeed He is our peace.
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Brothers, please see here in verse 15 that it is Jesus who has abolished satin, the enemy of God, in the flesh of Jesus himself. Jesus also abolished the law of commandments which the bible tells us were week, and that no man could walk through this life keeping these commandments. God sent his only begotten Son to die for our sins for this was the only way for each of us to know forgiveness.
Please see here that as we try to walk Christ like in this life, now that we are saved, it is Christ Jesus who has made it possible for us to know forgiveness of those times in which we fail, and we all fail my brothers. But, because of Jesus, God does not see our failures, but rather he sees the cleansing blood of Jesus which has cleansed us from all unrighteousness.
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
Jesus preached peace to us when we were lost, and even now when we are close to him.
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Brothers, do you see that through Jesus we have access by one Spirit unto the Father. For it is God's very own Holy Spirit which Jesus sent to dwell inside each of us. It is His Holy Spirit which shows us our sin when we step outside of God's will for our lives. His Spirit is our helper, our guide, our comforter, our deliverer of all truth, and it is the Spirit of God who gives us our strength.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Brothers, we are not strangers or foreigners from God. We are saved by the blood of Jesus, and are forever fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God.
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
God Bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus, and those of you who will soon be my brothers in Christ. Stop seeing your future through the eyes of this world by your sight. But, rather start walking by faith, it is God's faith by his grace that has made your whole.
