JESUS CHRIST IS LORD
Brothers, here in the 2nd chapter of Phillipians Paul is speaking to his brothers in Christ Jesus. Read these 16 verses as Paul explains how grateful he is that they would stand strong with each other and with him as they all walk Christ like even through trials and persecution for their work in the gospel.
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Amen brothers. We as children of God are to be likeminded. We are to have the same love for one another and for Jesus our Lord. We are to be of one accord having one mission and that is to both teach the gospel of Christ Jesus and live Christ like in front of both our brothers in Christ Jesus and the lost of this world that they might see us walking and living in fellowship of the Spirit of God. We are to be of one mind having the same love one for another.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Brothers do not do anything in strife with your brother or in vainglory thinking only of yourself. But, rather we must esteem others better than themselves. We accomplish this by always seeing ourselves lower than others. Lowliness of mind, our minds my brother.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
This mind is to be in us. This lowliness of mind was in Christ Jesus. Brothers, we are not to look on our own acts of mercy, love, and kindness, but rather we are to both regard and lift up the acts of mercy, love, and kindness of others which we meet along the way.
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Brothers, Jesus made no reputation for himself even though he was of God. Jesus became the form of a servant on this earth. He humbled himself and was a mere man while on this earth, and was made in the likeness of men. Jesus was obedient unto death as a man even dying on the cross. He was born, he lived, he died as a man would die. All of the miracles that he performed on earth was as a man who was holy, and serving God the Father. He did not use his power for him self, but rather to serve others.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
God did highly exalt Jesus, and gave Him a name which is above every name, and Jesus now sits at the right hand of God the Father. Brothers, every knee shall bow before Jesus, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. If not in this life then when they stand before Jesus in death, but they will be judged by Him.
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
Brothers, it is God who works in us to both do his will, and his good pleasure. We must do all things without murmuring, and complaining. When we do this we will be judged blameless and harmless the sons of God. We live and walk in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation in this day in which we live.
We are to be as lights shining into a dark and dying world. We are to hold forth the word of God which is life, that we may rejoice in the day of Christ' appearing. In this way my brothers we will not have run our life in vain nor labored in vain.
God Bless you my brothers in Christ Jesus. I pray that someone will see Christ Jesus in you this day.
