1There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men:
2A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.
If God gives a man riches, wealth, and honor, so that he wants for nothing, and his soul has all that he desires, but God does not give him power to use all of these gifts from God, then will a stranger use these gifts given by God. Then this is but vanity, and is an evil disease.
Do you see that we are to seek the power of God to insure that we do not waste away what he has given us.
How do we get this power? Brothers, this power comes from God's very own Holy Spirit who Jesus sent to us to be our other helper, our guide, our comforter, our strength giver, and our deliverer of all truth.
Please see here that it is the power of God who will show each of us what we are to do with the many blessings that he has given us.
If we fail to use what he gives us then it is both vanity, and an evil disease. What does a disease do? It eats away your very being. What does vanity do? It eats away your very soul.
Brothers, don't allow a stranger to come after you and waste upon this lost world the gifts that God gave to you. Ask for and receive God's power to know how to use his gifts, and also the strength to bring these gifts to do good as God intended for you.
7All the labour of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.
8For what hath the wise more than the fool? what hath the poor, that knoweth to walk before the living?
9Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit.
Brothers, man labors to feed both his fleshly body and his evil desires. Yet all that he labors for in this life does not satisfy his appetite. It is all done in vanity if he has not received from God the power to use all that he has been blessed with.
10That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.
Man is no match for the evil disease of vanity. Man has been around for many years, but he alone without God can bring nothing to good. Only the power of God can bring the fruit of man's labor to do good under the sun of this life here earth.
11Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?
12For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?
Man does not know what shall be after his life here is over. You can make all manner of plans for your estate after this life. But, you will not know what those who come after you will do with it.
Brothers, we are being taught here in the sixth chapter of Ecclesiastes that without the power of God to guide you in his service. Your efforts to decide how to use those many gifts that God has blessed you with will be but vanity and vexation of spirit.
God bless you my brothers,
