JESUS ASSURED YOU AND I
Brothers, please follow along with me here in the book of Colossians, as I attempt to show you what God has given me to teach to you my brothers in Christ Jesus.
19For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Brothers, God ordained that all fullness should dwell in Jesus, his Son, our Savior. Peace having been made through the blood of Jesus on the cross. Jesus reconciled all things unto himself. All things in earth and in heaven.
Brothers, please see here in verse 19 & 20 above that Jesus was and is our reconciler of all things on earth and in heaven. For it pleased God that all fullness should dwell in Him, and for you and I. God gave to Jesus, and Jesus has given to you and I.
21And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
Brothers, you and I were in times past alienated from God because we did not know nor had we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We were enemies in our mind, and indeed full of wicked works. But, now you and I are reconciled to God the Father through the shed blood of Jesus. 'PRAISE GOD'!
23If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven;
Brothers, if you and I do not allow our selves to be moved away from the hope of the gospel then we are growing in our faith, in God's wisdom and knowledge with each passing day. By continuing in faith grounded and settled in the Gospel then are we assured that we are reconciled to God the Father through Jesus our Lord.
2That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
5For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
Brothers, our hearts are indeed comforted daily in our walk with Christ Jesus through this life on earth. You and I are to be knit together by our love for one another.
It does not matter the sanctuary that you choose to worship in as long as you are with brothers and sisters who know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Jesus is the one and only way to eternal life. We all come to know God through the shed blood of Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Please go back and read verses 2 - 5 again. We are knit together in love, and do have all riches of the full assurance of understanding. We acknowledge God the Father and Jesus when we walk in love with our brothers in Christ Jesus.
See in verse 3 above that all of the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Jesus. Brothers, the wisdom and knowledge that God will give to you and I are indeed the greatest treasures that we have access to here on earth.
Do you see that it is God's wisdom and His knowledge that are given to us. You and I could never obtain this wisdom and this knowledge on our own. God tells us in his holy word that if any like wisdom let him ask and it shall be given unabraided. This means that he will not hold back any wisdom or any knowledge from you. You will be given the truth of the gospel. Not mans truth, but God's truth, and our Lord Jesus' truth. 'PRAISE GOD'!!
Brothers, verse 4 above tells us that we are not to be beguiled by man's enticing word. If we are grounded in God's wisdom and knowledge then man can not beguile or tempt us with his words.
Brothers, though Jesus is absent in the flesh He is present in Spirit with us. We are to stand steadfast grounded in His holy Word.
Ask each and every day for God to give you his wisdom and knowledge that you may gain his understanding not yours but His. He will show you all truth about not only the gospel, but all truth about anything that you desire to know. Just ask, and He will give to you in full. If you miss something that he tells you then go back to him in prayer and ask again until you receive that wisdom and knowledge that you are seeking.
6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Brothers, we are indeed complete in Christ Jesus.
We are to walk with Jesus our Lord, and built up in Him, and established in our faith, as we have been and are being taught. You are to abound in His teaching.
We will dwell in the fullness of God the Father, Jesus our Lord, and the Holy Spirit. These three members of the Godhead teach us and deliver to us all things Godly.
11In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Brothers, we are in receipt of the circumcision made without hands by Jesus our Lord and Savior. We have been grafted into the vine which is Christ Jesus. We are the branches which are to produce the fruit.
Jesus is the vine, we are the branch, and God gives the increase.
Do you see that you are to bring forth the fruit. The branch brings forth the fruit. God's Holy Word, the gospel of Christ Jesus will bring the increase. It is our water that nourishes the branch.
Brothers, without God's holy Word being put into your spirit each day the fruit of your branch will wither and eventually die. It is up to you to receive that knowledge and that wisdom that comes from God and does nourish you and grow you into a mature Christian who can then go about doing what God has assigned for you to do.
Brothers, read now verse 12 & 13 above. 'PRAISE GOD'! We are forgiven, and we are with Him and He is with us. He has come to make his home inside of you and I.
God bless you my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus;
