JESUS TEACHING US ABOUT OUR HEARING
Jesus speaking here in Mark and Luke.
Mark 4:22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
Mark 4:23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
Mark 4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
Mark 4:25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
Luke 8:5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
Luke 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
Luke 8:6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
Luke 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
Luke 8:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
Luke 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
Luke 8:8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
Luke 8:16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
Luke 8:17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
Luke 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
Brothers, It was Jesus himself speaking in the above scriptures in the books of Mark and Luke. Take heed how you hear, for those who have ears to hear God, to him shall more hearing be given.
But, to those who have a little hearing to him even that little hearing shall be taken away. Mark 4:25 and Luke 8:18 KJV.
Brothers, some of the seed that man sows in Luke 8:12 will fall by the wayside, and will be heard by the lost of this world, but the devil shall come and take away the word of God out of their hearts least they should be saved.
When the seed fell upon the rock these people did believe and received Gods Word with joy, and for a while they did believe, but in time of temptation did fall away from belief because they had not been rooted in His Word. Luke 8:13 KJV.
New believers must be fed and watered so that the Word takes root in them. New believers are like babies they must be given milk before they can eat food on their on. After a time then they should not be dependant on man feeding them, but rather God the Holy Spirit will feed them his Word. Then they can fellowship with their brothers in Christ Jesus praising and worshiping God in truth and grace.
Those seeds which are sowed among thorns are choked out by the cares, riches, and pleasures of this life, and they bring forth no fruit to perfection. Brothers, our purpose for sowing seed is to bring forth fruit. Do not let the thorns of this life choke out your seed.
But, those seed which fall on good ground with an honest and good heart having heard the word they do keep it, and bring forth good fruit with patience.
Keep your hearing and more hearing will be given to you. Sow your seed on good ground with an honest and good heart having heard the word, keep the word and with patience your sowing will not be in vain, but rather will bring forth good fruit. Praise God!
